FMA List of Scams

The New Zealand  Financial Market Authority maintains a list of the names businesses and individuals Kiwi's should be wary of if planning to invest, In other words they are probably scammers trying to steal your money. See the FMA List of Scams. 

Last week I had two calls in one day from offshore callers trying to get me to sign up to receive information on investments. If its such a good idea why are they cold calling me in New Zealand? I like to have a bit of fun and keep them on the phone as long as possible so they have less time to call the next person. I also like to ask them if their Grandmother is proud of what they do for a living.

Google can also be a great source, just type "is it a scam" and description of whoever has called or emailed or messaged you into the Google search engine and see what the results say.

It is quite unlikely that a member of the UN or the Head of Audit at an International Bank really has any money for you.
